Where Am I In Search?

It's important to know where you appear in the search results pages (SERPs) for a number of reasons, not least of which is quite simple: Revenue.

Just like having a store front in a prime location, being higher in the search results ensures more people see your business online and take a look around at what you have to offer.

Doing It The Quick Way...

A simple ane effective way of findout out where you appear in the search results is to simply search for your business name in Google.

It's quick and dirty and may not give 100% accurate results (due to how you searched and your search history) but it's good enough as a starting move.

Being Thorough...

Let's say you want to check where you rank in Google.co.uk and also Google.com. All you really need to do is repeat the process above for each search engine you want to track your SERPs in.

If you're not on page one then all you need to do is click page 2 and 3 and so on until you find your website but that can get extremely time consuming. Imagine you want to check 5 searchg terms in just 2 search engines (Google.co.uk and also Google.com) that's 10 searches. Then multiply that by the number of pages you look at in the results, let's say 5 pages deep. Now that's 100 searches. You can already see how time consuming this can be.

Being Smart...

A much smarter way of doing this is to use SERPs Tracking. We insert the search terms (we track up to 20 of these for you for free) and then the search engines you would like to track your SERPs in (typically we will track SERPs in Google.co.uk and also Google.com) and each day these are monitored for you.

Daily Tracking

The image gallery to the right shows a simple overview of what you receive each week. You will immediately see where you are in search, where you were and how you have performed over time for each search term you have chosen.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat...

As you track your results you can quickly see what's working and what needs improvement. Create more Blog posts where required, share more popular content into social channels and see your SERPs increase over time.

The Long Haul...

Make no mistake, this isn't a quick fix. You may not rank for your chosen search terms and for others you may rank but be on page two or even three of the search results. Over time though these results will improve and if you focus on creating good content that people want to read then you will reap the rewards.
