Who's Your "Local Guide"?

It's a fairly simple question but one most businesses fail to answer.

Who looks after your local search results? Who do you turn to when you need to be found in a specific location? Who's that one person you use as a source of information and help when it comes to being found in a specific area for your products and services?

Local search is on the rise, there's no doubt about that. In 2012 Search Engine Land reported that 43 Percent Of Total Google Search Queries Are Local and then in 2014 that 56 Percent Of “On The Go” Searches Have Local Intent.

Given the above and the fact that an increasing percentage of searches are now performed on mobile perhaps it's time to look at your local search results?

Every website we design is optimised for mobile, passes Google's own mobile test and is reviewed on mobile prior to being launched. However, that's only half the task. Being found by local searchers is an ongoing and detailed task. Something you can't leave to chance.

You need to analyse the competition, who they are and how well they are doing and then formulate a strategy that will work to get you to the top of Google for the specific local search.

It's also a given that when someone searches for a specific product or service in a particular location they are serious about buying. "Towards the end of the buying cycle" if you prefer that term. Either way you look at it they have cash to spend so why not spend it with you?
